Use this section to request a SITE MARKETING & PROMOTIONAL CRITIQUE REPORT.
The things that affect why a site ranks well on a search engine, or does not
rank at all, are often down to subtle programming aspects of the site within
its (usually) hidden html coding sections. Getting these right can make a huge
difference to where your site appears on popular search engines. Ideally, you
need to be within the top 30 and, better still, on the first page of results
that people see.
Statistics that we have seen suggest that 60-65% of web surfers will click on
a site which is within the top 10 on a search engine. 20-25% will click a site
ranked 11 to 20, most of the rest will visit sites positioned 21 to 30 and fewer
than 4% will go beyond the top 30.
Ask yourself if you are really serious about an internet marketing strategy.
If so, search engines will almost certainly be your most popular and least
expensive way of attracting visitors. To achieve this, you need to be in the
top 30, but achieving this is an art which is often lost on web designers.
They may leave you with a fully functional beautiful-looking site, but have
they given you a site which will actually be found by your customers when
they go looking for it? Sadly, our experience is that web designers do not
understand what it takes to get a site well ranked. Some use programming
methods which actually handicap the sites that they have designed such as
improper use of frames or Flash.
We can provide you with a Critique Report on your site which will examine how
it has been programmed so far as its search engine prospects are concerned.
Our reports are NOT relevant to html design or appearance. Instead, they
relate to the correct use of meta tags, keywords, frames, 'alt' tags, Flash
and similar matters. We will check whether other sites are linking to yours
because this is an increasingly important factor being used by some top search
engines in deciding where to rank a site. We will NOT suggest tactics which the
search engines are wise to and which could result in your site being penalised
or, in extreme circumstances, being excluded altogether. For
example, beware of anyone recommending that you cram your site with keywords
in white text on a white background. Other tactics like this could be a waste
of time, counter-productive or simply damaging to your rankings.
A Critique Report will contain recommendations for boosting your site's
rankings, and we will explain why we are making those recommendations. If
you simply want to know what to do without going into detail about the
reasons behind all of our recommendations, our
Site Optimisation Service may suffice.
This lesser service does not check your current standings on search engines
nor do we check for links to your site. Also, the Optimisation Service simply
examines the URL that you put forward. A Critique Report looks more deeply
into your whole site to see what can be done to increase its profile using
as many of its features as possible e.g. optimising different pages according
to their own specific features.
